MD Peel Microdermabrasion
What It Is
This procedure involves removing the superficial layer of skin and stimulating collagen regeneration while smoothing fine lines and superficial scars. For those who would like to fight the signs of aging by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, microdermabrasion is a great choice. This type of treatment exfoliates the top layer of the skin that contains dead skin cells, which will reveal the brighter, younger, and healthier skin underneath. Effective for all skin types and tones, microdermabrasion is particularly great for those who have little time to spare, as the treatment has relatively no downtime and is a non-invasive treatment option.
Microdermabrasion can be performed on many areas of the body, including the face, neck, chest, hands, feet, and other areas of the body that can benefit from a healthier, firmer appearance.
How It Works
Microdermabrasion is performed with a hand held device containing a crystal tip that is used to remove the dead skin cells and clogged pores from the surface layers of the skin. This will reveal a smoother, more radiant complexion to provide you with a firmer, rejuvenated, and plumper appearance after your treatment.
Immediately after your treatment, your skin may be pink and slightly dry and tight for approximately 24 hours. This should resolve on its own and you will gradually notice improvements in your skin right away. Your complexion will be fresh, glowing, and radiant and the skin will be rejuvenated with the healthy promotion of cell turnover.
The skin will be softer and smoother, and results will continue to appear in the weeks following your treatment. Visible improvements in overall skin tone and texture, as well as in fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation will take some time to become noticeable. For long-term, dramatic results, we recommend patients to commit to a series of treatments as well as the aftercare to maintain the results.
Microdermabrasion treatments, especially when performed on a regular basis, can produce wonderful results for patients who suffer from acne, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, skin discolouration, and want to achieve anti-aging benefits.
How long do the results last?
Microdermabrasion is completed in the privacy of our office in approximately 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Generally, the procedure can be performed every 3 to 4 weeks, although the number of treatments required will depend on the extent of sun damage, the depth of scars and the amount of wrinkles that you want to treat.
For 1 month post procedure, we recommend avoiding sun exposure, as well as tanning beds, to preserve your results. We also recommend the daily application of a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater to protect the newly revealed skin from further discolouring.Back
