Excessive Sweat Treatment

Excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis) is a condition where a person sweats abnormally high. Normal sweating is a natural process of regulating body temperature. Some patients experience excessive sweating in the palms, underarms, face and feet or other parts of the body. The condition is exacerbated by nervousness and emotional stress. This embarrassing condition may occur at any age. The treatment of primary excessive sweating is not a medical condition and is considered a cosmetic procedure. Excessive sweating is treated using non-surgical procedures.

Non-surgical Procedure:

This procedure involves injecting the affected area with Botox (Botulinum Toxin) which disables the sweat glands in that area. This procedure is quite effective. However the big disadvantage is that the effect lasts from 4 to 8 months. Thus has to be repeated again and again. The cost of the treatment depends on the surgeons fee plus the amount of Botox used in each treatment.

Hyperhidrosis may also occur later in life due to medical conditions such as disorder of thyroid and pituitary gland, diabetes, tumor, gout, menopause and certain medication. For excessive sweat under such medical conditions, the patient must consult his/her own physician.
