When it comes to skin, one quality that most people seem to like about their own and others, is clarity. Age spots and indiscriminate skin discoloration disrupts the flow, and there are many different treatments out there designed to create a clear face.
One such treatment is called an Obagi Blue Chemical Peel.
What Is It?
The Obagi Blue Peel is a medium chemical peel that was developed by a dermatologist named Dr. Zein Obagi. This particular peel works in the same fashion as most others, but it allows the technician or doctor to control the strength of the formula that’s used, to meet the patient’s specific skin needs.
The Obagi Blue Peel is an ideal treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage and age spots, rejuvenating the skin and adding a youthful glow that wasn’t there before.
The Treatment
The typical Obagi Blue Peel procedure lasts for less than an hour, and in most cases doesn’t require any type of sedation. You will notice a burning sensation on your skin, but it isn’t intense and doesn’t last for long. There is also a mild, bluish tint to your skin that lingers after the treatment, but washes off in a day or less.
The number of treatments you require will depend on how many brown spots are on your face and neck, and how deep the skin discoloration goes. It will also depend on the strength and depth of the peels your doctor decides to use. After the first treatment, it takes 2 to 3 days for your skin to start peeling, then healing is complete within 7 to 10 days.
Most of the time, one Obagi Blue Peel treatment is all that is necessary to achieve the desired results, but after your skin has peeled and healed, the doctor will take a look and let you know if another round is necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal Obagi Blue Peel candidate should be in good general health and have a realistic expectation of the treatment results. Men and women of all ages and skin colours have received the peel and seen dramatic benefits. People with spots, scars, acne, lines, wrinkles and blotchy discoloration are all good candidates.
The Obagi Blue Peel also works on areas besides the face and neck. The hands, arms, legs, chest and back are also places the peel has had a positive effect.
