Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure in North America. It is a safe and very effective procedure for removal of localized fat deposits that don't respond to dieting and exercise. These fatty bulges are most commonly found in the tummy, thighs, hips, buttocks, knees, ankles, calves and arms. The fat deposits are also found in the facial areas such as chin, cheeks, jowls and neck.

The procedure consists of infusing the subject area with tumescent fluid (a formula of anaesthetic medicines) which liquefies the fat and then sucking out the fat using small cannula. The patient is generally awake and comfortable during the procedure. It should be noted that the liposuction is not recommended as a procedure for weight loss but a procedure for minimizing localized fat and to achieve a sculpted figure. A maximum of about 4.5 kg fat can be removed in a single session. The recovery period depends on the amount and areas involved. A patient may return to normal daily activities in about 3 to five days, depending on the area treated

Liposuction can be performed alone or in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery procedures such as tummy tuck, facelift or chin augmentation to achieve the desired result. At Fairview Laser Clinic liposuction is performed under local anesthesia with tumescent fluid.
